Prieto Paez (below with children and grand-child), is a venerable beisbol old-timer who has helped organize Cuba's national and international teams and beisbol (pelota) championships. [The casa was closed for awhile and off our lists having been damaged by hurricane Ike in Sept. 08.]

Since his retirement, Prieto has been renting one bedroom in his typical casa, close to the village center.
Although facing the stadium, the place is quiet mainly because the town boasts no pro team, only regular pick-up players. We once saw Francisco, owner of Villa Cristal play there. Prieto's casa has the usual living and dining room areas and in back, the aircon bedroom with two double beds, ensuite bathroom and clothes hanger commode.
In the backlot (center field ? ; ) close to bedroom, a terrace to enjoy sunrises with breakfasts with a small vegetable plot and a view of mogotes and part of the valley.
Rates : 20cuc for bedroom per night; breakfasts 3cuc (served with fruits freshly picked in the valley), lunches 5cuc; dinners 8cuc; El Pelotero can find you all-round guides, a pedicurist, manicurist or masajista, a rental bike, and he'll suggest a valley or mountain trek on foot or on horseback.
